Zulhijjah: Our Other Exceptional Month

Remember to do a lot of good deeds at this time since it is multiplied. Also lots of zikir (dhikhr), doa (dua), forgiveness (istighfar) and Tawbah (repentance).

Abu Qatadah reported that the Rasulullah (Sallalahu alayhi wassalam) said, “Fasting on the day of `Arafah is an expiation for two years, the year preceding it and the year following it. Fasting the day of `Ashura’ (Muharram 10) is an expiation for the year preceding it.” (Muslim and others).

Ibn `Abbas reported that the Rasullalah salallahu alayhi wassalam said, “No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these days (meaning the first ten days of Zulhijjah) .” The Companions asked, “O Messenger of Allah, not even jihad in the way of Allah?” He said, “Not even jihad, except for a man who goes out with his self and his wealth, and never comes back with anything (that is, he is killed).” (Al-Bukhari and others)

“There are no days greater in the sight of Allah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel (“La ilaaha ill-Allaah”), Takbeer (“Allahu Akbar”) and Tahmeed. (“Al-hamdu Lillaah”)” [Ahmed].
